Adopting a 1.5-year-old Dalmatian recently, I realised the importance of teaching him to respond to recall in various settings. While exploring YouTube for guidance, a 15-minute video particularly caught my attention, offering concise and effective training methods.
The video, "Train your dog to COME to you NO MATTER WHAT," begins with highlighting the challenges of teaching dogs to reliably come when called. The middle section details specific techniques, such as using high-pitched calls and clear hand signals, along with positive reinforcement through treats. It emphasises the importance of consistency and patience, gradually increasing distractions to strengthen the dog's response. The video concludes by reinforcing the effectiveness of these methods in various environments, ensuring the dog learns to respond reliably under different conditions, ultimately achieving perfect recall.
I'm thrilled to share that after just one week of dedicated effort using the methods from the video, the improvement in my Dalmatian's recall response has been remarkable. I seize every opportunity to practice these techniques, and I'm incredibly thankful for stumbling upon such a useful video.
